The flu is going around. It seems like everyone has it right now. If you want to nip it in the bud, early detection is key. Here are 5 early symptoms of the flu to watch for.
1. Body Aches
You may think those body aches are a result of your workout, but maybe not. They are also an early sign of the flu. Aches are concentrated in the legs, back, and head. But, they can occur anywhere in the body.
2. Sudden Tiredness
Next, if extreme fatigue strikes you out of the blue, you may be coming down with something. It is another early sign of the flu. You also get fatigue from the common cold, too. But, flu fatigue is more extreme.
Another early sign of illness is a cough. Persistent coughs can herald the flu is coming. It may also come with tightness in the chest and wheezing. Occasionally, you may cough up some phlegm. But, in the early stages of the flu it’s rare.
Also, another sign of the flu is a fever. While it is common to have a fever in the early stages of the flu, not everyone will get one. Chills can occur with or without the presence of a fever. So, don’t mistake the lack of fever to mean you are fine.
5. Sore Throat
Finally, a sore throat can be a sign of the flu. This is usually in conjunction with a cough. Your throat may be irritated and scratchy. Likewise, some flu viruses even make the throat swollen without a cough present.
You may be tempted to go about your normal day even if you have these symptoms. Don’t. These early symptoms of the flu to watch for is a perfect time to rest and recover. Even before the flu manifests fully.
Overtaxing yourself will only make the symptoms worse. So, get some rest while you can. It may help the severity of your symptoms later.
